TOKYO — Carlos Ghosn was brought early Thursday to the office of prosecutors in Tokyo who plan to arrest him again in connection with Nissan Motor Co. funds that were allegedly diverted for personal use, public broadcaster NHK said.
Ghosn’s representatives have said the funds were allocated appropriately and he did nothing wrong. The former Nissan 7201, +0.60% chairman was released on bail March 6 after being charged with financial crimes. He says he is innocent.
NHK said prosecutors early Thursday morning visited the Tokyo apartment where Ghosn has been living and later took him by car to the prosecutors’ office.
The Wall Street Journal reported this week that Nissan has investigated whether Ghosn funneled millions of dollars in company funds through an Omani car distributor for personal use, possibly including the purchase of a yacht. Nissan has also investigated whether the Omani company helped fund an investment company partly owned by Ghosn’s son, according to the Journal report.
