It’s a sign of how much Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has captured the media’s attention that the president’s son whipped up a crowd by invoking a freshmen Democrat and not his father’s defeated rival.
Donald Trump Jr. said, “Think about the fact that every mainstream, leading Democratic contender is taking the advice of a freshman congresswoman who three weeks ago didn’t know the three branches of government.” The comment was presumably a reference to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat from New York who has made headlines for her statements about topics including climate change and income inequality.
After that, the crowd started to chant, “AOC sucks.”

“You guys, you’re not very nice,” Trump Jr. reportedly said. “And neither is what that policy would do to this country.”
President Donald Trump called out Democrats and celebrated the end of Robert Mueller’s investigation at the campaign rally he held in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Thursday.
“Robert Mueller was a god to the Democrats — was a god to them until he said no collusion,” Trump said. “They don’t like him so much right now.”
It was his first campaign rally since Mueller submitted his report last week, but that wasn’t the only topic Trump tackled.
He specifically mentioned House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff — who he called “little pencil neck” — and Jerrold Nadler, a Democrat from New York, who is the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.
Trump railed against Adam Schiff at his first rally since Robert Mueller concluded his Russia probe:
"Little pencil-necked Adam Schiff. He's got the smallest, thinnest neck I've ever seen. He is not a long-ball hitter." https://t.co/zT9UvQmlyr pic.twitter.com/UcvhCzfjeH

And he reportedly called the special counsel investigation a “sinister effort to undermine our historic election victory and to sabotage the will of the American people.”
He also addressed the controversy over “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett allegedly staging his own attack in Chicago, by men he claimed were Trump supporters. Trump called the events “an embarrassment” for Chicago and for the U.S.
There were about 15,000 people in downtown Grand Rapids for the rally, according to Grand Rapids police.
Crowds have dispersed and the street sweepers are coming through. Final numbers include 2 disorderly arrests and 3 minor injuries (unrelated to arrests) transported to the hospital....for approx. 15,000 all in one place, many for much of the day...this is what we call success! pic.twitter.com/I80xLcFiEl
