A small fire broke out late Thursday at Tesla Inc.’s auto factory in Fremont, Calif., sending a plume of black smoke into the air.
The Fremont Fire Department confirmed it was battling a blaze at the factory site, and said it appeared the fire started in pile of cardboard, and spread to threaten a structure and start a small grass fire.
Tesla did not immediately respond for comment.
Images from TV showed damage to a tent-like structure, but it was unclear if it was the same tent used for Model 3 production.
