‘Tis the season, and no one knows that better than Netflix Inc. NFLX, -0.70% The streaming giant has a slew of holiday-themed originals coming in December, like “5 Star Christmas,” “Free Rein: The Twelve Neighs of Christmas” and a stand-alone “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina“ episode dubbed “A Midwinter’s Tale.”
For those who are looking to get away from the holiday lights and jingles, there’s the buzzed-about flick “Dumplin’,” based on the young-adult novel of the same name. Starring Jennifer Aniston with music by Dolly Parton, it tells the story of Willowdeen (Danielle Macdonald), a plus-size teenager whose mom (Aniston) is a former beauty queen and local pageant celebrity.

There’s also “Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle,” a remake of Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book,” directed by Andy Serkis of “The Lord of the Rings” and “Planet of the Apes” fame. And for those who like arthouse films, there’s the critical favorite “Roma,” directed by Alfanso Cuarón.
